Publisher, Technology Publications | Media professions


Kadium Ltd needs a publisher for its portfolio of B2B digital publications, e-newsletters and websites. These currently include: Networking+; North Africa Wireless Communications; Southern Africa Wireless Communications; South Asia Wireless Communications; The African Wireless Communications Directory.

The publisher is responsible for all editorial activities and processes of these publications. You will be an excellent all-round writer and time manager with a keen eye for detail. The right candidate will need to be flexible and able to work on their own initiative as well as within a team. High production standards as well as the ability to multi-task under tight deadlines are a must.

The daily responsibilities of the editor include:

  • Create content for all titles according to the publication schedule
  • Sourcing, researching, writing and developing all content
  • Excellent writing skills will be required, as the type of content required ranges from technology, business and product news, to case studies, thought leadership articles and feature films. These are usually based on single interviews as well as other primary and secondary research techniques.
  • Sub-edit and approve all content for final layout and printing
  • Planning for future projects
  • Ordering articles from industry representatives or freelancers
  • Occasionally manage freelance writers or other internal editorial staff that the company may employ

This role requires a high degree of business awareness, as you will need to know how to identify and create content that targets our audiences.

The successful candidate will have the following skills, knowledge and qualities:

  • Creative and focused individual with over a year of B2B editorial experience
  • Excellent journalistic skills
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training
  • Exceptional captioning and proofreading skills
  • Knowledge of computer software including Excel, Adobe InDesign, PowerPoint and Photoshop
  • Ability to travel internationally if required
  • Ideally, but not specifically, ability to speak another language
  • Experience in print and online publishing and content creation; digital communications, including blogging and social media
  • Strong work ethic, positive attitude and desire to impact products and the business as a whole
  • Understanding of the B2B market and relationship with advertising

A keen interest in ICT technology is a prerequisite and an in-depth knowledge of corporate IT networks as well as carrier networks in developing countries will be a strong asset.

You will need to become an expert in your field by keeping abreast of all relevant market and technology developments in order to find and create timely and commercially engaging content.

The publisher also acts as an ambassador and represents the company at national and international industry and press events. He or she will be comfortable engaging with members of industry at all levels, from C-suite executives and government ministers to engineers, technology experts, marketers, press representatives , etc.

Knowledge of CMS platforms will also be a plus, and DTP using InDesign on Mac will also be helpful.

With a salary of £30,000 to £33,000, this role will also give the right person the opportunity to be part of the management team and influence the print and digital strategy of the business as a whole. .
