Perrin Brewing launches Imperial Fudge Cake Stout

The latest release in Perrin Brewing Company’s Side Hustle series is now available.

Comstock Park-based Perrin Brewing Company released the first 2022 installment of its Side Hustle series – Imperial Fudge Cake Stout, a creamy, chocolatey stout – on Thursday, January 27. cans at the Perrin Pub, with statewide distribution to follow soon.

Imperial Fudge Cake Stout (8.5% ABV) was brewed in conjunction with local Grand Rapids Beer City Bread Company bakery and restaurant. This beer was inspired by the bakery’s Mackinaw Island fudge cake. Several fudge cakes were dropped directly into the mash during the stout brewing process. The resulting brew has rich chocolate notes and a sweet, malty finish.

“It’s really fun to work with something like Beer City Bread’s Mackinaw Island Fudge Cake,” said Connor Klopcic, director of brewing operations at Perrin. “It’s such a delicious cake, and mimicking its flavors was a fun challenge, although throwing 10 cakes straight into the mash really helps.”

Imperial Fudge Cake Stout is part of the Side Hustle Series, a small-batch program that allows Perrin brewers to explore new ingredients and techniques. Perrin releases a new Side Hustle Series beer every two months.
